Many people think EatLafayette is all about the food. That is probably because we often feature mouth-watering items and tantalizing treats to satisfy your hunger throughout the campaign and throughout the year.
Lafayette's food and dining experiences are what we celebrate on a day-to-day basis, but that is only part of it. EatLafayette is also about celebrating local business and supporting our city.
So many groups encourage communities to support local farmers, businesses, restaurants, artists and everything else in between and some people wonder what it really means to "go local." "Going local" means supporting our city's economy and building relationships within our community. It means feeling like we are a part of something. It even creates a space where we can genuinely say "How's ya momma an dem?" And it just feels so good!
All 57 participating EatLafayette restaurants got their start here, and they are not still open by chance. They are open because you continue to support them. You've made that hang-out down the road your favorite place to go with your friends after a long night. You've continued to take dates to that fabulous restaurant on the other side of town. You've found the spot your kids love and you're sticking to it because the service is so great. Your family always goes to the same place to celebrate or everyone you know has had their reception there. You've figured out your favorite take-out dish and that's your Tuesday meal no matter what. Whatever keeps you coming back has kept these restaurants open, no doubt.
So gather your friends, your family, the neighborhood or club together and EatLafayette. The small decision to choose a participating EatLafayette restaurant may not seem like much, but it means a lot to those you're supporting. Let's build our city up to be as great as we think it should be. Let's celebrate those who choose to have their business here in Lafayette.
If you're having trouble deciding where to eat, you can always visit www.EatLafayette.com to see a list of our participating restaurants.
