EatLafayette Restaurants Work Together to Encourage Dining Locally
Eighth Annual EatLafayette Brought to You by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines

(Lafayette, La.) – In its eighth year, the 2012 EatLafayette campaign, brought to you by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines runs from June 18 through August 15; with over 60 participating restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and experiences, diners will have many tasty options for their summer meals.

In Louisiana, many of the fondest memories and celebrations involve gathering with loved ones to share a good meal. That tradition has been proven by Lafayette’s recent recognition by Rand McNally and USA Today’s 2011 Best of the Road campaign as the Best for Food and Southern Living’s acknowledgement that Lafayette is the Tastiest Town in the South for 2012.

“EatLafayette is about bringing locally-owned restaurants together to support one another and the community,” said Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s and one of the originators of the EatLafayette campaign. “We want to bring people together to experience local flavors and support local business.”

“The campaign saturates the local market with innovative use of social and digital media in addition to television, radio and print,” said Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission. “EatLafayette encourages people to visit locally-owned restaurants throughout the campaign and through the rest of the year. There’s something for everyone in this year’s list of restaurants.”

Eatlafayette.com gives visitors a full list of participating restaurants. The website includes information about the campaign, special offers, contests, sponsors, a helpful map, and information about the Caribbean Cruise Giveaway. The 4-day cruise is compliments of Travel Machine.

EatLafayette is utilizing several social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Pinterest, and eNewsletters to keep the community up to date on specials and promotions offered by participating restaurants and sponsors.

The 2012 EatLafayette campaign launched yesterday and will continue through August 15.

Sponsors Add Spice to EatLafayette

(Lafayette, La.) – In its eighth year, EatLafayette has garnered more sponsor involvement than ever before. Many sponsors are facilitating promotions that benefit the restaurants and the public.

The New Fly Lafayette Club and Mondavi Wines are title sponsors of EatLafayette 2012 and are collaborating with EatLafayette and many of the participating restaurants to bring everything they can to the campaign.

Townsquare Media DJs are filming their dining experiences at EatLafayette restaurants and posting them on Townsquare Media radio station websites. EatLafayette will post the videos to YouTube and to their website on each restaurants’ page. Townsquare is also conducting a giveaway for tickets to the kick-off event, A Taste of Lafayette, which takes place on June 19. Restaurants have the opportunity to submit recipes to Townsquare Media which will then be “pinned” to the EatLafayette Pinterest page, where the public will be able to use and share the recipes.

KLFY TV 10 is conducting an on-air giveaway for tickets to the kick-off event and giving away gift certificates for lunch to EatLafayette restaurants on their morning and noon programs, Passé Partout and Meet Your Neighbor. KLFY is also sponsoring a Restaurant of the Week promotion in which the public can sign up to win dinner at the Restaurant of the Week by clicking on the web banners on KLFY.com or visiting the KLFY or EatLafayette Facebook pages.

KADN Fox 15, myKLAF TV and WVLA are sponsoring Public Service Announcements with the restaurants who are participating in the kick-off event, A Taste of Lafayette. Each restaurant at the event will be filmed for a short informational video that will be run on KADN Fox 15 for the duration of the campaign.

The Independent Weekly has created a new feature in the Eats section of their paper which will feature the Dish of the Week at an EatLafayette restaurant. The featured dishes will also be published on the paper’s website, theind.com.

Travel Machine is offering a free 4-day cruise for two to the public. To register to win the cruise, customers must visit an EatLafayette restaurant to fill out a registration form. There is no purchase required to enter and no limit to the number of entries one can submit. A winner will be drawn live on-air on Townsquare Media radio station 99.9 KTDY with CJ and Debbie Ray in the morning. For more information, visit eatlafayette.com.

Event Rental is making the EatLafayette kick-off event, A Taste of Lafayette, the best yet with their high-quality furniture, props and service.

Lamar Outdoor has assisted EatLafayette in creating a compelling billboard campaign that will run the duration of the campaign.

Louisiana Hot Sauce has again partnered with EatLafayette for the Follow the Louisiana Hot Sauce Bottle promotion. On certain days, the twelve-foot-tall inflatable Louisiana Hot Sauce bottle will pop up and an EatLafayette restaurant to usher in customers and signal a great deal. The deal will only run from 11am until 2pm on the designated day. The public will be notified of the deal via the weekly EatLafayette newsletter, Facebook and Twitter updates and, on the day of the event, via a billboard and announcements on Townsquare Media Radio Stations.

AT&T has continued its support of EatLafayette. Support from a national company for a regional initiative is an indication that supporting local business is beneficial for everyone.

Atmos Energy and Cox have again signed on as helpful sponsors of EatLafayette.

The Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission and Louisiana Pick Your Passion are integral partners in EatLafayette. Their support keeps EatLafayette running each year.

EatLafayette showcases locally-owned restaurants June 18 – August 15, 2012. To learn more, visit eatlafayette.com. Brought to you by the New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines. Robert Mondavi Wine Now a Title Sponsor of EatLafayette™ 2012
(Lafayette, La.) – Robert Mondavi Wines has joined The New Fly Lafayette Club as a title sponsor for the 2012 EatLafayette campaign.

In its eighth year, EatLafayette is celebrating 61 locally-owned participating restaurants. The campaign runs June 18 – Aug. 15.
“Having Mondavi Wines engaged as a title sponsor this year has allowed us to reach a new level in our campaign,” said Gerald Breaux, executive director for the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission (LCVC).

He added, “We think now is definitely the right time to take the campaign up a notch, given the area’s recent recognitions.”

Rand McNally and USA Today’s 2011 Best of the Road campaign recognized Lafayette as the Best Small Town for Food and a national Southern Living contest awarded it the 2012 Tastiest Town in the South.

“People in Acadiana not only appreciate good food, but also good wine,” continues Breaux. “It is a good pairing.”
Dwight Prudhomme, executive vice president at Republic National Distributing Company agrees that EatLafayette and Mondavi is a good pair.

“Robert Mondavi Winery is proud to be a sponsor of EatLafayette, which celebrates great cuisine and the entrepreneurial spirit of Lafayette,” said Prudhomme.

“Lafayette is unique, robust and flavorful; a lot like Robert Mondavi Wines themselves,” Prudhomme added.
Mondavi and its distributor, Republic National Distributing Company, are hosting the participating restaurants in an afternoon promotion and tasting session prior to the campaign start. They are also working with the restaurants to pair Mondavi wines with specials and other menu items.

For more information, contact the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission at (337) 232-3737 or visit the EatLafayette website at www.eatlafayette.com.

“We are delighted that The New Fly Lafayette Club has signed on as a title sponsor for a second year,” said Gerald Breaux, executive director for the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission (LCVC). “It is a mutually beneficial partnership that encourages support for all things that serve Lafayette.”

Rand McNally and USA Today’s Best of the Road campaign recognizes Lafayette as the Best Small Town for Food and a national Southern Living contest awarded it the Tastiest Town in the South. "Lafayette's distinct culinary identity as the capital of Cajun country, its spicy, sausage-laden roots and a new generation of locals devoted to preserving their heritage while putting a fresh spin on tradition have made it an incredibly satisfying place to eat," writes Senior Editor Paula Disbrowe in Southern Living Magazine.

The New Fly Lafayette Club launched last year as a way of thanking flyers for choosing the Lafayette Regional Airport as their departure and arrival airport. Members of The New Fly Lafayette Club enter to win rewards from the Club’s sponsors including free meals, services, Fly Lafayette Club merchandise, gift certificates, free parking and more. Winners are chosen each month from the members who fly through the airport.

Interested flyers can sign up to be a member of The New Fly Lafayette Club at the Lafayette Regional Airport or on the website, http://www.lftairport.com/.

“Stay tuned as more sponsors are announced for the 2012 campaign,” said Breaux. “It is an impressive lineup.”

About EatLafayette
What started as a conversation between two local businessmen in Lafayette, Louisiana has evolved into a successful promotions campaign that provides a unique opportunity for people to experience local cuisine in Lafayette. Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s Seafood Grill, and Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission got together in early 2005 to discuss how locally-owned restaurants could gain visibility in a market flooded with big-dollar franchise restaurant advertising.

The result of those conversations was a summer EatLafayette campaign that is now in its eighth year. EatLafayette is a two-month celebration showcasing the restaurants that make Acadiana culture so appetizing. This year’s campaign is a true success with 61 restaurants signed up to participate.
